The ViKtory School is a nomadic, community-based, multi-faith, alternative homeschool environment for children of all ages. Here at the ViKtory School, we believe the children we have been given the pleasure of raising deserve a new learning environment, and together we are creating one that fosters spirituality, liberation, creativity, innovation and awareness.

We incorporate life school, world schooling, and nature-based learning to create environments where children can thrive with regulated nervous systems and in harmony with all of life.

Mindfulness (meditation) and yoga are incorporated into our children’s learning to encourage focus, conscious connection, remembrance of Divinity, and awareness of our limitless potential. Ecological epistemologies are used to return us to the ways of our ancestors, fostering a healed connection to the Earth and its inhabitants.

Children in the ViKtory School are purposefully exposed to different cultures, people, and activities so that they are diverse in their world outlook and malleable in their thinking. Life is our greatest teacher and through living we can learn so much. We are not raising children to fit into boxes. We are raising well rounded independent thinkers with applicable life skills.

Parent involvement is required, but never do we claim to know everything. Instead, we choose to learn right alongside our children. We have the courage to create a new way, we are open to the journey, and we believe in the power of our presence in our children’s learning and lives.

Ultimately, the ViKtory School sees the world as our home, life as our teacher, and all beings as free.

  • The ViKtory School meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10AM-2PM.

Every Friday, we go on a field trip together.

Occasionally our travels take us out of the state or country (camping trips, theater experiences, etc.). Plenty of advanced notice is given for these learning experiences so families can plan to attend.

Our homebase is Upper Marlboro Maryland, but the location for our weekly meetings changes often (we stay within the DMV unless a bigger trip has been planned). This allows children to build a relationship with their environment while also keeping them adaptable and open to change.

Learning takes place outside because nature is our best teacher and she supports our learning.

  • This is a general schedule. Every day is not the same and much flexibility exists.

    9:30-10AM: Family Arrival

    10-10:45AM: Yoga/Meditation/Quiet Time

    10:45AM-12PM- Story Based Learning

    12-12:30PM: Lunch

    12:30PM-2PM: Nature Lesson/Free play/Outdoor Exploration

Parent involvement is required every step of the way. We are in this together with our children and we are committed to demonstrating what right relationship looks like with nature, others, and self.

  • This is a story based learning environment. In other words, we use the ancestral process of storytelling to teach and learn.

King Kairo & The Magic Crown is a text that we will leverage in many lessons. You will receive it in your welcome package.

Math exists in nature so that is incorporated into the learning naturally.

Families are also free to choose their own curriculums to use outside of group meetings or to be incorporated into the way they support learning for the entire group.

Recommendations include: Math with Confidence, Teach your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons (for the younger ones), and BOB books at their independent levels.

We are setting the foundation for learning through living by emphasizing story and math.

From there our children become our guides naturally gravitating towards subjects they are interested in and we continuously provide resources (books, groups, projects, mentors), opportunities, experiences, and access to information that supports their interests.

This is what the two days off from our collective meetings are for. Supplement your child’s learning as you wish.

Older children will often be the teachers to the younger children. The mode of teaching is story telling here too. As we all learn more about our desired interests, we share with one another through story. A beautiful exchange of knowledge is witnessed!

Additionally, guest teachers (often parents) specializing in various trades, skills, and careers will be invited to our group meetings to offer children new experiences. Our field trips will also be used to reinforce learning or expose children to something new.

    Examples of this include:

    • pottery classes

    • woodshop classes

    • service men and women (firefighters)

    • gardening, foraging, farming

    • cooking classes

    • Music classes

  • As part of the attempt to break free of conditioning and regain control over our time, mind, and lives, things look different at the ViKtory School.

The ViKtory School runs for 12 months of the year because life never stops and neither should our learning. However, there may be times when breaks are required.

The schedule will be released on a month-by-month basis with an effort made to project at least 3 months into the future.

Remember, everything we do here is about freedom and liberation. There is no one right way. This also applies to payments.

    Two payment options exist:

    $300 upfront for three months

    $100/monthly with 3-month agreement

    Additional children are $50/month

    Investment includes:

    • 2 classes a week

    • 1 weekly field trip

    • Guest teachers

    • Learning Materials

    • Yoga and meditation instruction

    • And more!

Because this is a community-based school, we welcome the sharing of your gifts in exchange for discounted or total tuition. Investments do not always need to be monetary, and we are open to bartering as long as the exchange is mutual.
